From the Mediterranean to the Red Sea, civilization after civilization has left its mark on the map. This meteorological pattern became one of the primary inspirations for a seaside restaurant in Dubai, a project which we collaborated on with another Asia-based firm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/guggenheimerarchitect.com\/staging\/7554\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Thumbnail-3_2-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/guggenheimerarchitect.com\/staging\/7554\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Thumbnail-3_2-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/guggenheimerarchitect.com\/staging\/7554\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Thumbnail-3_2-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/guggenheimerarchitect.com\/staging\/7554\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Thumbnail-3_2-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/guggenheimerarchitect.com\/staging\/7554\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Thumbnail-3_2-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/guggenheimerarchitect.com\/staging\/7554\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Thumbnail-3_2-2048x1152.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Sail-Like Structure for Shade and Symbolism<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The upper deck of the restaurant is almost fully exposed to the elements. A huge, sail-like structure saves the day\u2026 not only providing shade, but also making direct reference to their founding story, the origin of Dubai as a humble pearl diving and fishing village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Architecture That Echoes the Nearby Sea<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The curved architecture makes further reference to that nearby ocean by hinting at the form of ship in port \u2013 a vessel forever awaiting the high tide to make sail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Comfortable Retreat for the Warmer Seasons<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the lower level, however, we proposed a fully enclosed, shaded, air-conditioned alternative environment that perfectly accommodates guests during the warmer season that drive people indoors in the UAE and neighboring countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Snaking Table \u2014 A Continuous Culinary Journey<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The experimental interior architecture is organized around what we call the snaking table \u2013 expressing the idea of a continuous, never-ending culinary journey offered by the establishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Narrative Architecture in Hospitality Design<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hospitality design is perhaps the most story-friendly form of architecture. In fact, hotels and restaurants, clubs, cruise ships and other leisure destinations now demand vivacious, unique forms of architecture and interior design as a matter of course.
