A Mighty, Tiny House
The US territory of Guam is no stranger to extreme weather events – including typhoons, heavy rain, flooding and high wind. More rarely, the island is also impacted by tsunami and earthquake events. As a result we approached the design of this retirement home for a single person with occupant safety and security as a top priority. The cosy, but architecturally dynamic three bedroom house was designed to be constructed largely of reinforced concrete It includes a garage featuring a car-sized turntable and a rooftop lookout with ocean views. Finishes both inside and out were selected to withstand a salty marine environment.
