For many years we were very active in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut architecture markets. In New York City we were involved with many interior projects, especially in Manhattan. These included a townhouse on the Upper East Side, a net-zero townhouse on the Upper West Side, condominiums in Midtown, an apartment building lobby in the Lincoln Square neighborhood, a shop in Soho, and exterior renovations throughout the borough.
Projects Across NY, NJ, and CT
In nearby Westchester County we designed many additions and high-end home renovations, especially in the trendy Rivertowns and in the nearby Frank Lloyd Wright designed community of Usonia in Pleasantville. A bit further North we were extremely active in the posh Village of Tuxedo Park, where we executed over 50 projects. These included renovation architecture, interior design, historic preservation, follies, gardens and several new homes.
A Challenging Lot on 5th Avenue
A vacant lot on 5th Avenue in Greenwich Village caught the eye of an investor who saw an opportunity to construct a condominium tower in that desirable neighborhood. As he focused on arranging financing and lining jup investors, we created the schematic design for a unique residential tower.
Designing a Tall, Narrow Residential Tower
The narrow width of the site designated any architectural solution a ‘sliver’ building. This limited the height of the building to a dimension equivalent to the width of the 5th Avenue right of way…effectively a ten story building. The resulting solution proposed a first floor retail space with 9 luxurious, residential units above. Regrettably another developer beat our client to the punch by purchasing the property in a quick sale. In architecture you win some and lose others.
